Looking back on an Incredible Journey

Location-Cumbum and Year-1947. Typical Malgudi days environment which people can easily relate to.
 

Our hotel Gopalakrishna Vilas aka Bodi Iyer hotels was started way back in 1947 by a humble, simple and noble soul in a small town called Cumbum, Theni district. His name was Sri. Chidambaram Iyer and people affectionately referred to him as Bodi Iyer. Actually this enterprise started as a small tea shop serving hot elaichi tea and crispy Vada to go to with. People loved the taste and there were so many regulars who would come all the way from far away places and enjoy this.

During this time not many places were established around this small town which could serve with so much taste.
 

Gradually this tea shop expanded by adding items in their menu and it became an instant hit. This unique place was completely managed by Sri. Chidambaram Iyer and was backboned by Smt. Saradhambal (his wife) who was a real pillar of support in administration and catering. Mr. Sadasiva Subramanian, S/o Bodi Iyer took over the hotel management and this hotel started growing exponentially.
 

This place and the people behind this enterprise have seen lots of trouble in almost everyway but have always emerged stronger with the blessings of its late founder Bodi Iyer and Smt. Saradhambal and also family members, friends and relatives.

Today this place is one of the only places serving pure vegetarian delicacies and sweets around Cumbum and it attracts lots of people including tourists. Hotel is currently being run and administered by Bodi iyer's first grandson Chi. Pranav Siva who holds a Masters of International Business Management from Aberdeen university, UK. The management is always very friendly, approachable and open for any suggestions and about the hotel, It was also mentioned in VijayTV Talk show "NEEYA NAANA".
